"When God calls you to build something significant, the enemy always raises opposition. In Nehemiah’s day, Sanballat and Tobiah mocked them, ridiculed them, threatened them. The attack wasn’t random, the wall represented God’s glory returning to the city.

Let me tell you something: if all we were doing was putting up bricks and mortar, Satan wouldn’t care. But because we are raising up a place where the power and presence of God will be seen in our city, you can expect resistance.

And here’s the word for us today: we are not just builders, we are battlers. The church is not just a construction crew, it’s an army. Nehemiah’s people held a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other. That’s the picture of what it means to follow Jesus: you build and you battle."
